The government further added that as per the pastor’s wishes, the Diamond will be sold in Sierra Leone in a bidding process to benefit local communities instead of being sold out of the country.

Sierra leone is notorious for blood diamonds also known as red diamonds. Blood diamonds is a term used for a diamonds mined in a war zone and sold to finance a multinational corporation, an army’s war efforts, or a warlord’s activity. The term is used to highlight the negative consequences of the diamond trade in certain areas.

It is said that diamonds can be found in about a quarter of Sierra Leone’s total land but the country which has a population of about six million people still remains one of the world’s five poorest nations in the world.
