13 Wee Peddlers Nabbed In Tamale 13 Wee Peddlers Nabbed In Tamale

The Northern Regional Police Command has embarked on an exercise dubbed 'Operation Father Christmas' to curb crime during the Christmas season.

In the course of the operation, suspected criminals – including two females – were arrested from their various hideouts. They were believed to be involved in numerous criminal activities and terrorizing residents in the Tamale metropolis.

The suspects are Abu Shirazu, 36 years of age; Shakur Iddrisu, 20; Mumuni Salim, 34; Mohammed Salifu, 20; Abdul Rahaman, 25; Baako, 35; Zakaria Hardi, 20; Oluman Shawunu, 19; Alhassan Mohammed, 24; Alhassan Alhassan, 32; Issifu Elizabeth, 39 and Joyce Issifu, 29.

When the police conducted a search on them, they found some substance suspected to be Indian hemp (wee) and are currently being held for unlawful possession of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

They will be processed for court after investigations have been completed.

According to the Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, 'As the Christmas is approaching we want to send a strong signal that the police will continue to conduct swoops and that criminals who think they can make life unbearable for people during this festive season will be brought out of their various hideouts and dealt with.'

 ASP Ebenezer Tetteh also urged the public to continue to supply the police with information about criminals or people they suspect to be making life unbearable for others in their communities. He assured the residents of their safety during Christmas period.
