Shocker: Malian Terrorist Confirms Planned Attack on Ghana Ghana Police

A Malian terrorist who is said be in the custody of Ivorian security agencies for allegedly masterminding the Grand Bassam attacks in Cote d’Ivoire has reportedly confirmed plans to carry out an attack in Ghana.

A report by Accra-based Citi FM on Tuesday, which cited anonymous Ghana’s national security sources, said the unnamed Malian terrorist told interrogators that Ghana and Togo have been penciled down for imminent attacks.

Citi FM said in the report that it had obtained a security alert dated April 9 and sent by the National Security Council to all the security agencies in the country, confirmed that Ghana was a target.

According to the security alert, the terrorists have set their eyes on Ghana in order to eliminate the perception that only Francophone countries were being targeted by the terrorists.

According to the report, the security alert indicated that the Ivorian national security establishment had determined that the terrorists’ mode of entry into countries with their explosives and weapons was through concealment, using approved and unapproved entry points.

In the case of Cote d’Ivoire, the terrorists, the alert said, entered from Mali using Niger registered 4×4 vehicle.

They reportedly concealed their weapons and grenade in the vehicles compartment for spare tyres, padded with cushions and bubbled wraps to keep them stable and prevent noise.

The report added that the National Security Council has, accordingly, directed all border controls, especially the northern borders with Burkina Faso, to be extra vigilant.
