The mother of undefeated UFC champion and Olympic gold medalist Ronda Rousey has hit out at her daughter's coach calling him a 'bad person' and a 'terrible coach'.

Former world judo champion AnnMaria De Mars did not pull any punches when it came to discussing coach Edmond Tarverdyan during an interview on Tuesday with LatiNation.

The 57-year-old believes that Tarverdyan is using Rousey's ascending fame to 'lure people in' to the Glendale Fighting Club in Glendale, California.

'I think Edmond is a terrible coach and I will say it publicly,' De Mars said during the interview.

'I think he hit the lottery when Ronda walked in there. She was winning before she ever met him. She probably won 99 per cent of the judo matches she fought in.

'She had won the junior worlds when she was 17, she got a bronze medal in the Olympics, she got a silver medal in the world championships.

'She was one of the top athletes in the world when she walked in there and he wouldn't even give her the time of day for months. Somebody like that is a terrible coach.'

De Mars then continues by saying she thinks Rousey will not leave him due to superstitious reasons and cautions anybody from going there, before saying she thinks it is bad he uses Rousey to 'lure people in'.

'I think it's bad that he uses her to lure people in. And the reason I tell everybody, and I told Ronda, I'm not going to be quiet about this anymore,' she said.

Tarverdyan previously admitted in a interview in August that he did not want to train her because he 'had his hands full' and had doubts about whether she 'serious' or not.

However, after a few months in the gym he noticed her commitment and hard work, and under his coaching, she has gone undefeated, according to the Huffington Post.

Her judo skills, honed with her mother's help, and mixed martial arts training have helped her claim the title of Best Female Athlete Ever on a recent ESPN poll.
