Hotline Documentary - Candidates for death: A town in crisis

This documentary is about the people of the Volta Regional town of Duta. People in this town are literally living on the cusp of death as the entire town is engulfed in cement dust through the activities of a cement manufacturer, Diamond Cement.

The lives of the people are in danger and most of them have developed respiratory infection diseases.

Livestock have also not been spared. They chew cement contaminated plants and either die or go blind.

Farmers also incurred a lot of losses because their crops are no longer yielding fruits.

Even more worrying is the fact that the cement dusts ends up in meals prepared in the village and sold elsewhere.

Listen to Seth Kwame Boateng as he presents the Hotline Documentary Thursday at 9:00am on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM 99.7.
