Sauti Sol have apologized to President Uhuru Kenyatta after band member Bien accused Statehouse of stealing their ‘Studio Mashinani’ idea.
Last week, Bien had gone on an Instagram rant about how the ‘Studio Mashinani’ idea was stolen from them and launched with Jamaican artistes Luciano and Richie Spice.
Bien explained that Sauti Sol had pitched the idea to the president last year during a visit to State House after which they were instructed to follow it up with Youth Fund chairman Bruce Odhiambo. However, they never got any solid feedback hence the reason for their anger.
However, Ministry of Information and Technology CS Joe Mucheru who launched di Kes. 80 million “Studio Mashinani” project in Machakos wid di the Jamaicans explained dat it was a matter of coincidence and not theft. See how good my patwa is? Haha.
The minister said that Youth Fund Enterprise Development Chair Bruce Odhiambo never presented the idea to government circles for discussions.
In short, alikanyagia story and someone else came up with the same idea.
Upon realizing that the president wasn’t really to blame, the group decided to issue an apology. How nice. But in the words of Justin Bieber,”Is it too late now to say sooooorry?”
