Coastal Ramsar Sites


The Weija Ramsar site: Weija lies a few Km just West of Accra. The Densu River, which feeds the wetland is about 116km long, and it has an area of about 2,460 km2 and came as a result of the Weija dam in 1978, just 8 km inland from the Atlantic sea.
The Sakumono Ramsar site: is located on the Teshire Nungua –Tema beach road. The surface area of the principal lagoon has been greatly reduced. It’s a good place for bird watching.
