Jennifer Lawrence has revealed her anger over being paid less that her male American Hustle co-stars.

The pay gap was exposed during the Sony hacks last December, where it emerged that the Oscar-winning actress was being paid less than her male co-stars Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner and Christian Bale.

'When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with d*cks, I didn't get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself,' she wrote in an essay for Lena Dunham's feminist arts newsletter Lenny Letter. 'I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early.'

'I would be lying if I didn't say there was an element of wanting to be liked that influenced my decision to close the deal without a real fight,' she added .

'I didn't want to seem 'difficult' or 'spoiled.' At the time, that seemed like a fine idea, until I saw the payroll on the Internet and realized every man I was working with definitely didn't worry about being 'difficult' or 'spoiled.''

Email exchanges between studio execs showed that Jennifer and her co-star Amy Adams - who both received Oscar nods for their performances - received seven percent shares of the film's profits while the director and the three male leads received nine percent.

The news sparked fury among many prominent actresses, including Charlize Theron, who then demanded that she was paid an equal amount to costar Chris Hemsworth in their next film Snow White And The Huntsman.

In the essay, Jennifer continued: 'Are we socially conditioned to behave this way? We've only been able to vote for what, 90 years? I'm seriously asking…Could there still be a lingering habit of trying to express our opinions in a certain way that doesn't 'offend' or 'scare' men?'

She concluded: 'I'm over trying to find the 'adorable' way to state my opinion and still be likable! F*ck that.'

Earlier this year she proved she wouldn't let it happen again.

She is now set to bank twice what her co-star Chris Pratt will earn from their upcoming film Passengers.

She has signed a 'watertight' $20 million deal for her role in the upcoming film, putting her in an exclusive group of Hollywood high earners, alongside the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper and Robert Downey Jr. - all of whom can command enormous fees for their projects, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
