She is known for revealing ample amounts of skin in her daring outfits, so it came as no surprise that Jessica Mauboy would opt for a skimpy dress for a beach outing.

Four days after receiving an ARIA Award nomination for Best Female Artist, the 26-year-old singer visited Sydney's Cronulla Beach in a flirty frock that left little to the imagination.

The psychedelic green-and-yellow garment barely covered the star's backside, which she was clearly self-conscious about, as she battled against a sudden gust of wind on Sunday.

The This Ain't Love hitmaker teamed the short dress, with a pair of white trainers and a white canvas bag.

She completed the beachside look with a black cat-eye sunglasses.

The pop singer, who is of Indonesian and Indigenous Australian descent, kept her long caramel highlighted locks in flowing waves as she walked in the Sydney suburb with friends.

The former Australian Idol contestant told Sydney Confidential recently that she is looking to boost her acting career within the next year and is open to working in both television and film.

'I definitely want to explore more projects,' she said. 'I love getting into the zone of being dedicated to the character.'

The immediate future, however, will see the Darwin-born beauty heading to London alone to finish work on her album.

Jessica, who is enjoying a long-distance relationship with Darwin-based Themeli Magripilis, spoke to Daily Mail Australia ahead of the ARIA nominations last week about the challenges of the romance.

'I have a long-distance relationship with my partner,' she said. 'I live on the road basically and out of a suitcase so there are moments of - I think everyone goes through you know, with their job or with their relationship - of doubt.'

Adding that it's from that doubt that the relationship grows, she said: 'And that's important, to have happiness, you have to go through emotion and whether that be those difficult ones, that's pretty much how you get to the next level, there's transition in your life.

'I guess that's where it comes from a lot of that emotion comes from being away so much.'

While she explained it 'definitely' is hard to be away from the person she loves, the emotions it brings to the surface help with her song writing.

'Out comes a great song and I'm so proud of that moment of being real with myself and identifying with myself and making great music for me,' she said of her latest track, This Ain't Love.
